Obituary of Elizabeth “Bessie” Akers Farrell

Elizabeth “Bessie” Akers Farrell, 54 of Auburn, NY passed away on March 28th 2022. Born in Weedsport, NY on December 3rd 1967, she was predeceased by her parents: Paul and Irene Akers and her sister, Kathryn Akers. She is survived by her three children: Joshua Farrell, Auburn, NY, Jennifer (Jershon) St. Mark, Fulton, NY, and Jordan Farrell, Auburn, NY; her brother: Daniel (Tracy) Akers of Morrisville, NY; her nephew and niece Maximillian and Clarissa Akers; Her two grandchildren; Parker and Luna Farrell; and two grand-cats; Skyler Foo and Ida Mae. Bessie worked in child care for over 20 years. Her caring spirit later moved her to be the Homeless Housing Coordinator, and then Adult Protective case worker for the Cayuga County Department of Social Services. She was married to Paul Farrell for 28 years. She loved her children, her grandchildren, and very much enjoyed watching her favorite Soap Opera; Young and the Restless when she wasn’t taking in a Lifetime movie. Bessie started her Christmas countdown every year on December 26th because the holidays were her favorite time of year. She always loved having her family all together so she could spend time with those she loved the most. Bessie’s trademark was the Winnie the Pooh Tattoo on her left arm. She was described by her friends and coworkers as having an infectious smile, much like Pooh. She adored cats, and had a passion for rescuing the strays at the Chestnut Ridge Boarding Kennel, where she resided at the private residence for most of her life. If it wasn’t a stray cat she was rescuing, it was a person-in-need that she was helping to navigate through life. Her wonderful smile, beautiful blue eyes and generous, caring spirit will be missed by all who loved her, and all who crossed her path. The calling hours for Elizabeth Bessie Farrell will be held at Farrell’s Funeral Service, Inc. 84 South St, Auburn, NY 13021 on Thursday, April 7, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 2744 E Brutus St, Weedsport, NY on Friday, April 8, 2022 at 1 p.m.. A private burial will be held at a later date.
