Obituary of Marjorie McLean Burns
Mrs. Marjorie McLean Burns, 84, of Cayuga, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017 at University Hospital, Syracuse.
A graduate of Skaneateles High School, at the age of 16 Marjorie was employed with Beacon Milling Company for several years, and retired from Cayuga Savings Bank. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Auburn, and former member of St. Joseph’s Church in Cayuga. Her husband, Robert Burns, whom she married on May 5, 1956, predeceased her on April 29, 2003.
Marjorie adored her family, children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. With her family living in various parts of the country, she was able to travel often for visits.
Surviving children are Carolyn (Pat) Watson, of Portage, Wis., Gerald (Susan) Burns, of Cayuga, William (Tammy) Burns, of Oakdale, Minn., James (Laura) Burns, of Aurora, N.Y., Thomas (Kathleen) Burns, of Raleigh, N.C., and Patrick (Shelly) Burns, of Throop, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; her sister, Trudy (Terry) Colbert, of Auburn; sister-in-law, Mary Kay Vebbert, of Washington; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert; parents, Peter and Alice Murphy McLean; brothers, Bob and Jack McLean; sisters, Jane Lee and Mary Wasservogle.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017 in St. Mary’s Church, Auburn, with the Pastor, Rev. Frank J. Lioi as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Farrell’s Funeral Service, Inc., 84 South St., Auburn.
