Obituary of Robert W. Graney
Robert “Bob” W. Graney, 53, of Lake Worth, Fla., passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 19, 2016 at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and Heart Institute in Fort Pierce, Fla.
He was born in Auburn, N.Y., on Aug. 18, 1963, and was a graduate of Auburn High School with the class of 1981. A longtime resident of Florida, he was employed by Alder Home Protection Service as a technician at the time of his death.
Robert was known to most as Bob and was a great and loving man with a huge heart, always willing to do whatever was necessary for his family and friends. He was soft spoken and had a subtle way of putting a smile on the faces of everyone he encountered, whether it be from a humorous remark or a pleasant conversation. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, stepfather, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. He was also well known for NASCAR, Pepsi, and his pets, Holly, Sebastian, Snuffy, and Miley.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Katherine J. Graney, having been together for 23 years; his step-children, Chastity (Scott) Cook, Mellissa (Sergio) Ivashevsky, Mitchell Hamilton, and Brittany (Matthew) Sapyta; grandchildren, Collin, Mackenzie, Keagan, Landen, Langston, Talon, Genevieve, Kennedy, and Adelaide all of whom he greatly loved and cherished as his own. He is also survived by his mother, Helen Rogers Graney; Graney brothers, David Graney and Joe (Joelle) Graney; sister, Mary (Larry) Church; niece and nephews, Mary Graney Viola, Michael Graney, L.J. Church, Joe Church, Brian Church, and a special niece, Cindy Graney; as well as many cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Graney in 2007, and sister, Catherine Burger in 2013.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017 in St. Alphonsus Church, with the Pastor Rev. Timothy Niven as celebrant. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1 p.m. prior to Mass in the church vestibule. His interment took place in Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery, Royal Palm Beach, Fla. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Dec. 29, 2016 in St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Lake Worth, Fla.
