Obituary of Robert J. Lynch
Robert J. Lynch, 93, Cortland NY passed away peacefully Tuesday January 3, 2017 at the
home of his daughter and son in law, who were by his side.
He was born in Owasco, New York the son of Joseph and Erma Lynch, on December 25, 1923.
He was a graduate of Auburn East High School with the Class of 1941. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army, and proudly served his country during WW II. After returning to the US he worked as a Tool & Die Maker in Auburn, and then with General Electric in Syracuse, N.Y. until his retirement in 1986. He enjoyed part time employment at the Owasco Liquor Store for many years.
He enjoyed sports, gardening and was an avid golfer. He had obtained a Life Membership in Dutch Hollow Country Club. He w as a faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. His quick wit and sense of humor brought smiles to many throughout his life. He was well known in the Auburn/Owasco community. He was a member of the Owasco V.F. W..
Surviving are his son Michael Lynch and his wife Emilia Martins, Bloomington, Ill
daughter Mary Spaulding and husband Robert, Cortland, NY Grandchildren
Erin (Rick Rupp) Adam (Corinne) Gabe, Corrina and Daniel. Great Grandchildren Thomas, Austin, Dylan, Taylor and Dominick. His sister Rita Dusel, Owasco. Many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He wa pre deceased by his loving wife of sixty four years, Bernice, in 2012 and two daughters Cheryl (1950) and Dorie (2009).
A calling hour will be held on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:15 am, December 7, 2017 at Sacred heart Church 90 Melrose Rd Auburn NY with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:30 am. The pastor, Reverend Michael Brown, will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
