Obituary of Elwyn R. Caldwell
Mr. Elwyn Ralph Caldwell, 92, Hamilton Avenue Auburn NY passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Oswego Hospital.
He was a U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force Veteran, having served in both W.W.II in the Army with the US Air Force in Korea. He remained active in the Disabled American Veterans, being a member and Chaplin for over fifty years. He was also a member of SK Post of the American Legion. He was able to travel to Washington, D.C. On th Knights of Columbus trip “Enduring Gratitude,” to tour the historic monuments, which he throughly enjoyed.
A frequent visitor around downtown Auburn, he would often enjoy visiting at the Vterans office, and enjoy his coffee on the Genesee St benches, where he made many friends.
Elwyn was born in , Pleasant Valley, Kansas the son of James R. & Anna White Caldwell. A graduate of the local High School, later in life he took adult classes at Cayuga Community College. He was employed at Auburn Memorial Hospital, and also was an Auburn City Fireman for many years, and had also worked at GE, Auburn.
He is survived by many friends here in Auburn, including Karen Cunningham and Pamela Chaffee. He was pre deceased by his parents, wife Phyllis, and brother Chester.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday December 2, 2016 at 10:30 am in Sacred Heart Church, Auburn. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4 to 6 pm at Farrell’s Funeral Service, Inc 84 South ST Auburn NY.
