Obituary of Joanne E. Lawler
Joanne E. Lawler, beloved wife, mother, and nana, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, after a valiant 17-year battle with Alzheimer's on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
Joanne was born on March 24, 1936, the daughter of John and Florence (Connors) Worden. She graduated from East High School (Class of 1955) and attended Oswego State College. She married Donald A. Lawler on June 1, 1957.
Joanne worked at the old National Bank, G.E., and TRW. She made many friends at all of her workplaces. Joanne was always kind, thoughtful, and generous.
Joanne was predeceased by her parents, John and Florence Worden; her brothers: Jack and Joe; and her son, Donnie.
She is survived by her husband, of 67 years, Don Lawler; her children: Marie (allen) Lutins, of Binghamton, Patricia (Christopher) Sciria, of Auburn, and Thomas Lawler, of HI; and her two granddaughters: Maggie Sciria and Kaeleigh Sciria; and a large extended family.
Joanne's committed caretakers, Julie and Megan, unfailingly provided expert and loving care, year after year.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 90 Melrose Road, Auburn, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon, with the Rev. Michael Brown as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph's Mausoleum.
