Obituary of Margaret "Peg" Ohlmeyer
Margaret "Peg" Ohlmeyer, 105, a resident of Auburn, N.Y., passed away Friday, November 1, 2024 with family by her side.
She was born May 16, 1919 in Poplar Ridge, N.Y., the daughter of the late Kathryn and William O'Herron. Margaret was married to Edward Ohlmeyer, who passed away on September 7, 2003.
She was predeceased by her husband; parents; brothers, Harry, Howard, Morris and Arthur; sisters, Marie and Lena. She is survived by children, Susan Lindenbaum (Gary), Edward Ohlmeyer; as well as her grandchild, Thomas E. Jordan (Deborah); stepgrandchild, Rachael Schading (Chuck); great-grandchildren, Meghan and Benjamin Jordan; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Owen and Sammy Schading.
Margaret was an engaged and passionate Auburnian for many years, raising her family and dedicating herself to the community through volunteering, community service and a career in the Cayuga County Lab. She was most noted for her positivity, words of wisdom, and endearing smile for whomever she came into contact with, always having a kind hello and a story for everyone she met. Margaret was strong, independent, loved her family dearly, and was known for her vast knowledge of historical events and people. Margaret's strength of life was an inspiration to many.
The family wishes to thank the kind, loving and compassionate staff at Westminster Manor, where Margaret resided for the past 11 years.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church in Auburn, N.Y., on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions, may be made to St. Mary's Church Renovation Fund.
