Obituary of Susan "Sue" Joan Wilson
Susan "Sue" Joan Wilson, Ithaca, NY, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 16, 2024 at Kendal of Ithaca, in Ithaca, NY with her wife, Jill of 24 years by her side.
Funeral service will be held in Trumansburg, NY on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at 12:00 p.m., with a viewing for friends and family at 11:00 a.m. Officiated by Reverend Bernard Maloney of St. James of the Apostles. Burial will follow at St Joseph Cemetery, Auburn NY.
Farrell's Funeral Service, Inc., Auburn NY will be handling the funeral arrangements.
Sue was born in Auburn, NY to James and Joan (Perkins) Wilson on April 5, 1951. She was a graduate of Auburn Central High School Class of 1969. She went on to earn a degree in Accounting from Cayuga Community College and was a member of the National Honor Society.
She worked at Wilson's Food Market, which was owned by her grandfather Fred Wilson from 1967-69. She then went on to work in retail from 1969-81. In 1982 she began her Accounting career at local banks in Auburn.
In 1996 Sue and her family moved to Ithaca, NY where she worked at Angelheart/FLAX until retiring in 2008 to care for her grandson Cameron. She enjoyed bowling and taking care of her grandchildren.
Sue is survived by her wife, Jill Ulbricht of Ithaca NY; her children: Robert E. Hand, Colleen R. Griffin (Charles), Deana M. Connell (Dustin) and Carol A. Conely. Robert was proudly adopted in 1982 by Sue and her then husband, Gary E. Hand; grandchildren: Shawn M. Mayo, Cameron J. Mayo, Peyton C. Griffin, Kennedy J. Griffin, Avery E. Griffin, Jonathan A. Cagle (Faith) and Jacob S. Cagle; great-grandchildren: Oliver W. Mills, and Quincey J. Cagle; siblings: Lynn Pitts, James Wilson, Jr. (Mary), Deborah Franceschelli (David), Lisa Cuddy (Michael), Jenifer Szozda (Donald), Timothy Bergan (Lois), Danielle Bergan; brother-in-law, Thomas Delaney; Maureen Coppola (James), Christopher Sheehy, and Gregory Sheehy; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Joan Wilson; step-parents, Patrica Bergan-Wilson and Winifred Sheehy-Wilson. As well as her sister, Deborah Delaney, and brother-in-law, Bristol Pitts.
Sue was blessed to spend the last three weeks visiting with her wife, siblings, children and grandchildren. In the end this made her peaceful departure from Earth to Heaven much easier on her.
Memorial donations may be made to the National Scleroderma Foundation.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Ann R. Costello for her help in these final months of Sue's life, she was instrumental in making the last days were comfortable.
