Julia Krueger

Obituary of Julia Anne Krueger

Julia Krueger peacefully passed away February 28th at home surrounded by family. Julia was born on Sunday, August 11, 1935 on Black Street in the town of Scipio to Carolyn (Welch) and Ernest Chamberlain. She would go on to spend her life in the Southern Cayuga Community. As the middle child of 7 children, she learned the values she would live her life by: with an appreciation of learning and books, a desire to serve and be involved in the community, a love of family, and the independence to pursue adventures around the world. Her love of learning led her to SUNY Cortland where she earned her teaching certificate. She would then teach in the Southern Cayuga School District for 27 years. After retiring, her learning continued as she began serving the larger community by driving the scat van, and volunteering with the American Red Cross. In between her time volunteering, she traveled the world visiting new places and continuing to learn new things. While her travels took her far from home and allowed her to have diverse experiences, the adventures she treasured most were at home in her role as Mom, Grandma and Gigi. She relished the time she had with her family, regardless of whether she was playing cards, swapping book suggestions, cooking meals, snuggling the babies, or simply visiting. It is these memories that bring comfort to and will be remembered by the family she leaves behind. She is survived by her three sons Marty Lawrence, Randy (Michelle) Lawrence, and Timothy (MaryAnn) Lawrence; her six grandchildren Matthew Lawrence, Michael Lawrence, Jessica Holm, Ashley Swan, Megan Lawrence, and Jenna Hoellerer; her brother Glenn (Eliana) Chamberlain and sister-in-law Marilyn Chamberlain; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her caregiver Jodi Butera. The family will hold a private celebration of her life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Red Cross or to Seymour Public Library
