Obituary of John "Tom" Deuel

John Thomas Deuel, 82, of Copley St., Auburn, NY, passed away suddenly on Friday, February 23, 2024. Tom was born in Auburn, NY to the late Thomas and Ellen Deuel. In 1954, the family moved to Port Byron where Tom attended PBCS and played multiple sports before graduating 1962. Tom served as Electrical Apprentice and became a Journeyman Electrician with the IBEW Local 840, Geneva. He was a very proud Union man and was elected to hold the positions of President and Treasurer. In 2020, Tom received a citation and pin for 55 years in honor of loyal and faithful years of membership. Tom was a kind and selfless man who was always at the ready to help anyone in need. He will always be remembered for his quick wit, anecdotes and storytelling. From his many youthful adventures to coaching his daughters' softball teams and attending their violin concerts to his vast work history, when he told you a story, he did it in a way that made you feel you were there. An all sports enthusiast, Tom, especially loved the Yankees and NASCAR. He also enjoyed taking a chance at the casino with lady luck and buying his scratch off tickets. But it was his love of history and travel that led to his favorite pastime traveling with his beloved late wife Louise and visiting various historical sites. Your journey on this earth has sadly ended but your stories will continue through each of us. You will always be remembered and always be loved. In a word, as you would say, "Ya did good kid!" Tom is survived by his daughters: Kelly (Joe) Wiseman, Kim Colbert, Krista (David) Plish, Valerie (Mark) Rivett, Lisa Ryan, Danielle Green and Natalie Traver; his sisters: Barbara (Roanld) Focht and Elizabeth Sprague; and many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife, Louise, parents, Thomas and Ellen Deuel, Tom was predeceased by his brother, Robert Deuel, daughter, Samantha Jetty and granddaughter, Averyana Dale. On Thursday, February 29, 2024 calling hours will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Farrell's Funeral Service, Inc., 84 South St., Auburn, a Funeral Service will follow at 11:15 a.m. with the Reverend Louis Vasile officiating.
