Obituary of James W. Chamberlain, II
Auburn- James W Chamberlain II, 71, passed away on December 30, 2023 in Auburn Community Hospital with family by his side. James was born March 12, 1952 to James and Anne Chamberlain of Scipio Center, NY. James grew up on the family farm. He lived in California for several years before returning to New York in 1983.
James attended Southern Cayuga Central School and was a well-known, loved bartender who worked throughout Auburn most recently working at CC’s Tavern. James loved boating, camping, golfing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. James loved all animals especially dogs and horses. He was a devoted Raiders and Warriors fan but loved all things sports.
James is survived by his children Gretchen (Thomas) Prave, Tiffanie McLean, James (Kari) Chamberlain III, Shane Chamberlain, and Meghan Chamberlain. His grandchildren Mackenzie and Maya McLean; Ava, Annie and Myles Chamberlain; and Cody and Alexander Reed. James is also survived by nieces, a nephew, cousins, siblings and many close friends.
James was predeceased by his parents, his grandmother Mabel “Gamy” Moore Smith as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Auburn Community Hospital Physicians and Nursing staff especially the staff on 4 Central as well as our dear family friend Eileen Becker who provided great love and care to our father. We would also like to thank all of his friends who looked after and supported him along the way especially over the recent months.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in James’ memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Finger Lakes SPCA of CNY.
There will be no services at this time. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in the summer.
