It was always a pleasure caring for Gerry. As and overnight staff or volunteer, whether it was watching a Mets game with him or getting him ready for bed. I never saw anyone shave with a bar of shaving soap or brushinf his teeth with Pepsodent. It was nice to be in touch with someone from the greatest generation. Born during the depression, growing up during WW2 and serving our country to help put Europe back together at the end. Over the time at Matthew house, Gerry became my friend as well as my resident and I looked forward to caring for him. Especially on the overnights, he slept like a log and when woke in the morning prepping his cornflakes with the sliced banana on the bottom of the bowl, the paper and coffee. Farewell, my friend. Have a good journey...you are missed.
