Obituary of Eric C. Marquart
Eric C. Marquart passed away at his home in Sarasota, Florida, Friday, December 4, at the age of 62, far too young of a kidney infection. Eric was the second son of Howard F. Marquart (deceased) and Shirley Marquart Conyngham.
Born in Scranton, PA., on January 29, 1958, Eric grew up in Dallas, PA. in the Back Mountain of NE Pennsylvania and later in his life relocated to Sarasota, Florida.
Eric was married on July 12, 1986 to Marjorie Henry Marquart and was the proud father of two daughters, Samantha Marquart Brainard and Olivia Mary Marquart (deceased). He cherished life with his family and deeply loved their time together.
Eric was educated at Dallas High School and East Stroudsburg University, from where he studied economics and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business. He went on to further study and became an accomplished Certified Financial Investor attained from the American College of Financial Planning as a Certified Financial Planner™, Chartered Financial Consultant®, Chartered Mutual Fund Counselor®, PA/FL Health & Life Insurance License, including professional recognitions as Series 7 – General Securities Representative, Series 24 – General Securities Principal, Series 27 – Financial and Operations Principal, Series 53 – Municipal Securities Principal.
In 1988, Eric formed Northeast Capital Management, Inc., which he led as President for 38 years in both NE PA and Sarasota, Florida. Eric worked extremely hard with his team to build the business, where he made countless lifetime friendships with his clients and colleagues. With a tremendous sense of humor and a big, warm heart, he was always supportive and there for his clients and friends.
After the sale of his company and his retirement and relocation to Sarasota, FL, Eric grew to love the warmer climate and Florida lifestyle. In addition, he owned and operated Beautifully Bronzed Tanning and Wellness Salon in Sarasota.
He particularly loved time on the gulf waters of Sarasota Bay. He lived life fully enjoying a wide a variety of interests: adored the water, especially time on his boat with friends boating and fishing, motorcycle touring, auto racing, golfing, he was a music enthusiast, an accomplished guitarist and genuinely loved just “being” with and spending time with all of his family and friends.
Eric was preceded in death by his daughter, Olivia M. Marquart, his father Howard F. Marquart, and stepfather George Guthrie Conyngham. Eric is survived by his loving family, Marjorie Henry Marquart (ex-spouse), his daughter, Samantha Marquart Brainard, her husband Jamie Brainard and recently born granddaughter Abigail Marjorie Brainard; his loving mother, Shirley Marquart Conyngham; devoted brother, Michael (Mickey) S. Marquart and sister, Kirsten Marquart Judd; close nephew Zachary C. Judd.
Eric’s family takes great consolation in knowing that he was a man of great talent, immense charisma and exceptional work-ethic, with a high-energy approach to life and famously quick wit. Eric was never without a loss for words or a good one-liner. He was equally comfortable in a dress suit in front of a board of investors as he was in a Tommy Bahama T-shirt on his boat on his beloved Sarasota Bay … his big warm heart and generous soul will be greatly missed by everyone.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Eric’s life will be fully commemorated and celebrated in the Spring of 2021 with a Catholic mass memorial in Shaverton, PA. and burial at Pine Hill Cemetery in Throop, N.Y. Future details will be forthcoming and in lieu of flowers, the family please asks that any tributes in his name be donated to the St. Judes Children’s Research Fund, by calling St. Jude Donor Services at (800) 805-5856 or email donors@stjude.org.
