My cousin Richard was a positive light in this world. He never complained and always loved a party. Memories of holiday dinners at Grandma and Grandpa Dapolito’s; trips to Port Byron to see him, Dan, Aunt Bette and Uncle Dick; walks to the Historical Society; and then the visits around Christmas and July 25th with Aunt Sydney and Uncle Butch. In between, he was just a phone call away. I know you’re having lots of laughs with the grandparents, your mom and dad, and Aunt Pat and Uncle Dick. Should be a full table! I've known Richard since we were in Kindergarten together in 1962. We shared a friendship for a long time and it is sad that he has now passed on. I was one of the village people (Village of Port Byron) and I was one of the lucky ones that got to go in his house as his grandmother (who lived with the family) would chase everyone else out of house with her broom. Richard was a kind and thoughtful person and a joy to be around. We had a good vacation together in 2010 to the Thousand Islands where we rode on Uncle Sam's boat ride over to Boldt Castle. Richard loved the Castle and the beautiful grounds around it. We stayed in a cottage near the St. Lawrence Seaway and we enjoyed cooking burgers on the grill. I remember many visits to see him in his apartment in the old Port Byron High School. He is now at rest and God welcomes him with open arms. Peace my friend as you are now truly at home.
