Obituary of Kathryn T. Malek

Mrs. Kathryn T. Malek, 93, of 8 Oakwood Ave., Auburn, passed away Monday, July 8, 2019, at Auburn Community Hospital.

A lifelong resident of Auburn and parishioner of Holy Family Church, she was a graduate of Holy Family School. Kathryn was deeply devoted to her faith and family, and very proud of her Irish heritage.

In earlier years, along with her late husband, Julian, she would enjoy traveling, camping, and finding a good Polish festival.

Surviving are their seven sons, Roger W. Malek (Bonnie), of Pittsburgh, Pa., Kevin M. Malek (Kathleen), of Mac Ungie, Pa., Wayne C. Malek (Bonnie), of Auburn, Carl J. Malek (Chris), of Longmont, Texas, Dennis L. Malek (Rachel), of Rosharon, Texas, Allan J. Malek, of Throop, N.Y., and Gary J. Malek, of Auburn; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband in 2003; sisters, Betty Fromel and Ann Turner, and their parents, William J. and Kathrine Lawler Turner.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2019, in Holy Family Church, with the Rev. John Gathenya, Pastor as celebrant. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2019, at Farrell’s Funeral Service, Inc., 84 South St., Auburn.
