Obituary of Anne E. Shayler
Mrs. Anne E. Shayler, 92, a former longtime resident of Jarvis Street, Auburn, passed away Friday, Dec. 29, 2017 at the Commons on St. Anthony Street, Auburn.
Anne, a life resident of Auburn, was born Sept. 17, 1925, the only child of Murray and Nora (Conroy) Simmons. A life member of St. Mary’s Church in Auburn, a member of the St. Mary’s Choir for many years, she also attended Mass often at Sacred Heart Church. She was a graduate of East High School, and had retired from the Auburn Nursing Home as the activities director with 10 years of employment. She loved music, and was able to sing with the Von Trapp family when they appeared in Auburn and at the family lodge in Stowe, Vermont.
Her husband, H. Allen Shayler, passed away in 1986, surviving are their children, Thomas A. Shayler, of Auburn, Peter F. Shayler, of Auburn, Daniel J. Shayler and Sue, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Mark P. Shayler, of Auburn, Margaret Henderson and Brian, of Seneca Falls, several grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 in St. Mary’s Church, Auburn, with the Rev. Frank J. Lioi, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Farrell’s Funeral Service Inc., 84 South St., Auburn, NY.
