Obituary of Joanne H. Watkins Sims

Mrs. Joanne H. Watkins Sims, 80, of Weedsport, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, N.Y.

A lifelong resident of the area, her early years were in Cayuga and after her marriage to Robert Sims; the couple resided in Weedsport.

Joanne was the daughter of Hulbert and Helen Tryon Watkins.  She loved to garden; spending time with her family and friends from the coffee club.

She was predeceased by her husband in 2008.

Surviving are their sons, Steven E. Sims and his wife, Tristine, of Weedsport, and Robert J. Sims, of Tully; grandchildren, Alison and Morgan Sims, of Weedsport, and Robert J. Sims, of Tully; brothers, David Watkins, of Cayuga, Bruce (Frances) Watkins, of Auburn, and Donald Watkins (Susanne Scolaro), of Auburn; sister, Diane (Joseph) Colandro, of Auburn; brother-in-law, William (Iona) Sims, of Kentucky; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

A private memorial service will take place at Farrell’s Funeral Service, Inc., 84 South St., Auburn.  Interment will be in Lake View Cemetery, Cayuga, N.Y.
