Sharon (Wilson) Romano -83 years old, passed away unexpectedly on April 4, 2026 at her home in Owasco, NY.

Born the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Byrne) Wilson in Auburn NY ,she graduated from Mount Carmel High School. Early in her career she worked in a special education classroom at Seward Elementary as a Teacher’s Aide. She later worked with adults who have developmental disabilities through Seneca/Cayuga ARC (formerly CTC). After retiring she became a lunchroom monitor at Genesee Elementary School. She loved her work throughout her career and found it very rewarding.

Sharon loved gardening, volunteer work, but most of all she loved spending time with family and friends, whether it was at Knitting Club, going out to eat, taking in a show at the Rev Theatre, meeting up at an estate sale, or hosting holidays in her home. Time with people she loved was a precious gift to her that she treasured.

Sharon was pre-deceased by her parents and her long-time companion Richard Sigona.

She is survived by sons James (Michelle) and Christopher Romano, daughter Lisa (Romano) Sloan, grandchildren Nicole and Ashton Sloan and Remy and Lia Romano, her brother Joseph (Avis) Wilson, her sweet dog Sadie, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins and people who were like family in every way except blood, especially Susan Kalabanka, Terri Dec, and her very close friend Helen Ridgeway.

Her children would like to express their sincere gratitude for the kindness of those who helped her to stay in her home by plowing her driveway, mowing her lawn, checking in , or the other countless acts of kindness shown. She repeatedly told us how much your kindness meant to her.

Calling hours will be Friday April 10 from 4-7pm at Farrell’s Funeral Service Inc 84 South Street Auburn.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Ann’s Church in Owasco on Saturday April 11 at 12 noon, with Reverend Stephen Karani as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Owasco Volunteer Fire Department or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital
