Angela Carmel Librizzi Franceschelli

Born Angela Carmel Librizzi was born on July 15, 1941. She went to her Lord and Savior on

Sunday November 2, 2025

Angela was born and grew in the heart of Little Italy in NYC. She lost her dad as a young child and her hard working mom, Nettie, raised 2 kids as a single mom.

She stayed at home with mom when her brother Leonard went off to fight in the Korean War. She lived and worked in Manhattan until she married Joseph Lawrence Volpe in 1962. They moved out of New York City to raise a family in the countryside of Pinebush, New York. Michael Joseph was the first born in 1964. Then came Lawrence in 1966. Lastly, Angelarose was born in 1968.

As a family of five, they moved around a few times, raising their family in the countryside, in a couple of quiet little towns of Tuxedo and Sloatsburg. In the mid 70s they made a big move to Auburn, far from their big families of Brooklyn and Manhattan. Despite the fact of living in these small towns and small cities, Angela always said that “you can take the girl out of the city, but you can’t take the city out of the girl”.

Angela was a devout Catholic. She loved her church community and was very dedicated to being a part of a small city community that revolved around church activities. She remarried late in life to Santos Franschelli and were very happy.

Angela was predeceased by her mom Nettie and her brother Leonard Librizzi. She is survived by her three children: Hokey of Auburn; Larry (and Maria) of San Jose; and Angelarose (and Andy) of Boulder. She is also survived by many cousins, too many to name here.

Per Angela’s wishes, she will be taking her final ride to New York City, where she will be laid to

rest next to her parents.

A Funeral Mass in her honor will be held at St. Mary’s Church on Monday November 10, 2025 at 11 am. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery on Tuesday.
