John Mahar, 92 of Montezuma, NY passed away surrounded by his family on June 10, 2024. Born in Savannah, NY, John was a lifelong resident of Montezuma. He was a carpenter and was a member of the local carpenters union before retirement. He is survived by his loyal companion who he loved and cherished dearly Prince Henry and children Christina (Lynn) McAfee of Montezuma, Cheryl (Larry) Hyder of Lexington, SC and Greg (Christine) Mahar of Canastota. He has six grandchildren James Trumble of Indiana, Kandi Herrera of Lexington, SC, Kelly Boulet of Lexington, SC, Seth Mahar of Charlotte, NC and Kyle Mahar of Canastota, NY. He has several grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. John was predeceased by his wife of 55 years Barbara and a grandson Brent Trumble. Per John's wishes a private ceremony will be held at the convenience of the family. Donations in John's memory can be made to any local pet and animal rescue.
