Obituary of Dr. Peter P. Midura

Dr. Peter P. Midura, 97, of South Hoopes Avenue, Auburn NY passed away peacefully in Rochester on June 14, 2016, one day short of his 98th birthday. Dr. Midura was born in Perth Amboy, NJ. the son of Joseph and Anna Kalita Midura and was a graduate of Don Bosco Prep School, Class of '36. He would continue his education, receiving a BS degree from Mount St. Mary's College in Emmitsburg, MD, Class of '41 and his MD degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA, Class of '44. Dr. Midura served as a Captain in the United States Army from 1945-1947 with the 27th infantry regiment, 25th infantry division and was part of the occupation of Japan. Following his military service he attended the Menninger School of Psychiatry in Topeka, KS, Class of '55. From 1960 to 1987 he served as the Director of Cayuga County Mental Department. He had retired in 1994. In his retirement he enjoyed gardening, golf, and painting in oil and watercolor. Dr. Midura was predeceased by his wife, M. Ruth Midura in 1995. He is survived by three children, William Midura and his wife Barbara of Penfield, NY, Alan Midura and his wife Spring of Ithaca, NY, Elizabeth Rajamani and her husband KK of Penfield, NY.; seven grandchildren Ben(Brianne), Megan, Emily, Jake, Maya, Kiran, and Mallika. Two great grandchildren, Brynn and Ben and many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents and wife he was predeceased by seven brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Farrell's Funeral Service, Inc., 84 South Street, Auburn. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 10 am in St. Alphonsus Church. Interment with full military honors will in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fleming.
