Obituary of Mary Woods Bergin

Mary Woods Bergin, 89, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, March 25th 2018 surrounded by her family.

Mary was born in Auburn, February 17, 1929 to Jack and Florence Cregg (Ryan). She attended Holy Family schools, graduating from the High School in 1947. On August 25, 1951 she married Richard (Muff) Woods. They were married until Muff's untimely death in 1978.

In 1997, at her 50th High school reunion she ran into Dr. Richard Bergin who had left Auburn after Holy Family and established a Veterinary practice in Elko, Nevada. They married August 15, 1999.

Mary was always active in her children's lives and with a circle of lifelong friends, enjoying vacations, golf and socializing with the Buschmans, Stevens', Smiths, Saltzers, Cuddys, Burkes, Muldoons and Pitchers among others. She worked for New York Telephone for 25 years until her retirement in 1992.

In addition to Muff and her parents, Mary was pre-deceased by her sisters Katherine (Kitty) Boni and Helen Paul, sister-in-law Lillian Cregg, brother-in-law Bob Paul as well as an infant brother, Billy, and sister, Ann. .

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Richard; her children Tom (Kathy) Woods, Lynda (Donald) Wells, Nancy Woods (Mark), David Woods, John Woods, Patty (John) Schlegel, Beth Ann (Jim) Baier and Kathryn (Rick) Liccion; her brothers, John and Robert Cregg her sisters Betty (Fred) Pfiefer and Carol (Dutch) Connors, brother-in-law Richard Boni and sister-in-law Geraldine Cregg and In addition she was Mimi to grandchildren Bill, Fred, Mandy, Meaghan, Sara, Josh, Ryan, Steven, Emily, Mclean, Sarah, John, Jessica, Katie, Trisha, Bailey, Richard and Micheal; great grandchildren Chelsey, Taylor, Bobby, Sydney, Morgan, Maggie, Ian, Danial, Alexis, Javani, Sophie and Seth, and great-great grandchild, Raylynne, as well as multiple generations of nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are through Farrell's Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church at noon on Wednesday, March 28, followed by interment in St Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours, however the family will receive well wishers from 10 AM to 11:30 AM at the Church and there will be a brief gathering with refreshments at Sacred Heart following the interment.

In lieu of flowers donations in Mary's name may be made to The Alzheimer's Foundation or to Hospice of the Finger Lakes.
