Obituary of Maryrose Vatter

Mrs. Maryrose Vatter, 98, of 15 Perry St., Auburn, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 3, 2017 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, N.Y., with her family beside her.

Maryrose Vatter was born on Sept. 9, 1919, the daughter of Frank and Rose Kinsla Fanning. She had resided at 15 Perry St. since the age of two. She was the last remaining member of Holy Family High School class of 1937, and the last remaining member of the Auburn Hospital School of Nursing class of 1940. Mrs. Vatter had retired from the Singer Corporation, Auburn as the company nurse. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Church.

Surviving is her daughter, Margaret V. Simmonds and her husband, John, of Atlanta, Ga.; grandson, Eric Simmonds and his wife, Pamela Roller, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; several cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Anton Vatter in 1986; her brother, Charles Fanning; a niece and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017 at Farrell’s Funeral Service, Inc., 84 South St., Auburn. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, prior to services, at the funeral home.
